Hello guys,

I've a few "old" customers that uses Outlook 2007 (yes I know....) to access my Zimbra Server.

After migrating to Carbonio 23.09 these customer's outlook doesn't login with some error certificate.

I don't know the exact error, but did someone experienced something like this? or any clue?

Regards

A.

It is related with TLS version. Carbonio correctly disabled TLS 1.0 and 1.1 and many old e-mail clients stopped working.

Just to be clear, this is the right way, TLS 1.0 and 1.1 were far too old and insecure so old e-mail clients must be upgraded or...

You may tray to hack into Windows and Outlook following this instructions

My suggestion is to ask your clientes to upgrade or start using Carbonio webmail.

I would like to add. After switching from cloud mail to Carbonio, we prohibited access to the server via IMAP and SMTP protocols for third-party email clients. And, as practice has shown, this was true. But, yes, people who used Outlook were very upset.

@max Congratulations... that's a huge step. It will definitively reduce TCO and make everybody's life easier.

Some customers of mine, running their own dedicated server did it and they had to deal with some upset users for a bit, but they have no regrets.

I wish we could all do that in all cases =)

Hi @anauac @max

You are 100% correct and for years I've been discussing this with customers.

I only have 3 situations now: two of them using Outlook client to my old Zimbra and one using Outlook to a private cpanel  that I manage but need to close.

In some cases we can force them to move but others say that they use many outlook functionalities  (??) and need offfile access to messages.

It's hard but we'll get there.

I belive that in a near future and due to mail attacks, local mail clients will end.

Regards

@antonio, the frog must be cooked slowly!

My arguments for users consist of two theses: it’s so safe and so correct!
