Hi all,

I'm fairly new to Carbonio, as I was to Zimbra before this. Previously I've worked in SOGo, Exchange Web Access, Google, ProtonMail, and some other web-based email clients. What follows is a list of things that I would love to see added to Carbonio's mail client, specifically. I'm hoping that if a list is started, others can contribute, or if there's functionality that I'm missing, others can tell me where to find it.

  1. An option for not having a Preview Pane. I hate Preview Panes. I've hated them since they first started appearing. Not only does the preview pane often render the email sent in a box that is too small and creates confusion for the end user, it also auto-opens emails that I don't want to open. So for instance, we are avid fans of KnowBe4. KnowBe4 trains your employees on how to spot emails that are fake or scams or virus infected. But one of the first things you can do to combat these things is ask yourself "am I expecting an email from 'HR Department'"? If the answer is No, that's your first clue that maybe, just maybe, this isn't coming from your HR department. And KnowBe4 tracks whether a user opened the email or not. So guess what happens when the email appears in the Preview pane? KnowBe4 tracks it as being "opened". Also, if you're like me and you sort your emails from newest to oldest, then when a new email appears, guess what most preview panes do? It opens the email and after XX seconds, it marks it as read! So here I am, sitting in a boring meeting, and I look at my phone. I've got the Web UI version of my email up on my computer screen back in my office. And the last 10 messages I received, the ones that came in since I left my office and came to this meeting, are now marked as read. How did that happen? It happened because of the preview pane. So give us the option to turn it off, please?
  2. If there's no preview pane, the option to add some columns to the email list would be great. For instance, a column for attachments (paperclip), read/unread, flagged message, size of message, etc.
  3. A way to "select some/all" messages to perform a mass action, like "mark selected read / mark all read"
  4. A way to filter for unread messages. I had over 1,000 emails in my inbox, and showed one unread message. I couldn't find it!

Thank you for considering any/all of these changes!

-P
