Hello, I checked the email configuration via the site: mail-tester.com and encountered the following message:
We didn't find a server (A Record) behind your hostname mail.domain.com.
We check if there is a server (A Record) behind your hostname mail.domain.com. You may want to publish a DNS record (A type) for the hostname mail.domain.com or use a different hostname in your mail software.
- I have configured record A to point domain: mail.domain.com to the server IP in DNS.
- I have configured PTR for IP pointing back to mail.domain.com.
How should I fix this error?
Thanks.
Host OS:
Is the issue incoming or outgoing?
from and to address (You can blur the domains)
And if possible a little bit of details.
I am sorry that I am asking a lot, but let's not only fix it but also try to understand it so we can avoid it in future and can help others also.
I hope you would understand.
Hi Sharif,
Thank you for responding. This is the result I received when I sent a test email to the site: mail-tester.com.
I am using Carbonio CE version: 23.10.0
Server Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS
Currently published DNS records: A, MX (See picture: https://prnt.sc/DleITFK2YsC5 ).
I use Thunderbird to send mail.
Thanks.
You have an email server with the domain mail.------.com, right?

What is your from and to address? are you sending an email to any email tester or any actual email recipient server? What does the log says when you send an email to any actual email server?
