Greetings,
First, let me thank you all for the great work to add this wonderful mail system to all users! Been using zimbra since 2016, right now we have it on version 9 from zextras. Yet I see that Carbonio improved a lot over zimbra, and wondering what would be easiest way migrate existing mail accounts into Carbonio. I am aware of imapsync and such tools, that would require knowing all passwords, I am looking for a more optimal solution.
Thank you!

Hi Cosmic,
Thank you so much for your effort to try Zextras build Zimbra 9 and your interest in Carbonio.
Right now imapsync is the only process we suggest to migrate from Zimbra 9 to Carbonio, as it is the only one that ensures the re-creation of the complete email platform. The migration process is not trivial, and you have to go through several steps to integrate and fine-tune features.
Of course, our dev teams are continuously working on plans to improve the migration experience, so stay tuned as we will share any update here on the forum to the advantage of all users. Once again, thanks for your patience, and have a great day.
Thanks and regards,
Sharif
Hi Sir
For a specific user, I am trying, also an individual user to export from Zimbra in tgz format and import of same in carbonio.
Please suggest to me how can I do this option in Carbonio CE.
Hi,
Thank you for writing to us.
Currently, there is not any export/import feature in the Carbonio CE web interface. So Carbonio CE user/admin can not use export/import
feature to upload any tgz backup to the Carbonio CE server.
So, the only proper way to migrate data from another platform to carbonio is Imapsync. If it is possible, we would request you to
follow this article to get your data transfer done.
Imapsync transfer process guide
Hope it helps.
Thanks and regards,
Sharif
Hi Sir
Using imapsync, I am able to migrate from Zimbra 8.1.1 to Carbonio CE.
Still, I am having 2 doubts, can you please suggest if these two features are possible with Carbonio CE
1. Zimbra has a useful feature called Zimbra Dumpster. It allows files deleted even from Recycle Bin / Trash to be available for restoration by the user or admin for a certain no. of days. This is very useful if you do an entire server backup and then restoring a single email is not practical from a full server backup. To enable the Carbonio CE dumpster on a server, please suggest steps for configuration.
2. Configure cbpolicyd, in Carbonio CE, this feature is for
2.1 Protect cbpolicyd web interface from unauthorized access
2.2 Preventing email reputation damage if a user account is compromised
Hi,
We are glad to hear that you have been able to complete the migration.
About your other two concerns about:
Dumpster
CBpolicyD
Currently, they are not available in Carbonio CE. As you can see we are releasing Carbonio CE each month with some improvements and new features.
We will convey your concerns to our Dev team. But until we hear anything from them, we can't share any specific timeline regarding this issue.
Thank you for being with us.
Thanks and regards,
Sharif

Hello @chaithanya,
Older versions of Carbonio CE are not compatible with RHEL. Support for RHEL has been added with the latest release, always accessible via https://www.zextras.com/carbonio-community-edition/
Hi Sir
Thanks for your suggestion on upgrade part in RHEL.
Can I try installing an older version of Carbonio CE in Ubuntu and try to upgrade the steps, Please suggest to me the older version of Carbonio CE and its resources to be downloaded from.
New packages are installed along the other system update, so we do suggest you to not install older versions. If you really want to test the upgrade procedure, install now the latest 22.11.0 version, so next week after the release of 22.12.0 you can test the upgrade.
I also think (But I'm not 100% sure, though) that older packages are not kept, but in any case when you upgrade, you upgrade to the latest version present in the repository.
