Hi Folks,

Plan A: I can install Carbonio CE on AlmaLinux 9 (RHEL 9) and get right down to it, but then I'll be upgrading to 10 as soon as Carbonio CE supports it in a few months, or I could wait until Carbonio CE supports AlmaLinux 10 (RHEL 10).

Plan B: Or, and this is questionable, I could install the current version of Carbonio CE on AlmaLinux 10. That sounds like there might be a lot of problems, but maybe not. I have no idea.

So, if I opt for Plan A, how long is my wait going to be? I'm sure I'm not the first person to ask and I'm also sure everybody is tired of hearing it. If I opt for Plan B, I'd like to gauge the likelihood of success. Has anybody tried this? The difference between RHEL 9 and RHEL 10 don't really scare me, and I'm thinking it might work. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the help.

Hi!

I wouldn't expect much, unfortunately. We've had CRITICAL problems for over 60 days and they haven't been resolved, imagine something that isn't critical or considered important...

If it works, stay in that version kkkk

Hi Carlos,

What sort of "CRITICAL" problems?

Chris.

My take after all those empty post's from Sharif to let the devs know and never got an answer, I do not think this project is worth any time and frustration - just my opinion. Maldua Zimbra seems a good product if you need mainly email. I have gone Maldua Zimbra and you can join the Zimbra forum for that. Chat and video use an alternative to Carbonio.

Hi I am,

I see frustration. That's never a good sign for an open source project. Disregarding the lack of progress, can you highlight the technical problems that exist? If I move from Zimbra to carbonio am I jumping out of the frying pan into the fire?

Chris.

HI!

You can see numerous problems in the forum posts, many created by me as well...

Critical Problems:
- Several errors during installation, and in many cases the installation isn't even completed
- MTA configuration changes are not saved
- Errors accessing webmail
- More than 50 days without resolution
- Carboinio support unfortunately sometimes goes weeks without a basic response; it took them 50 days to officially say they have problems and are resolving them "soon"...

And there may be more, but off the top of my head I remember these, which are critical and make the product unusable.

Regards;

You are on Zimbra now, what version of Zimbra is that? What would be the main reason you want to jump ship?

Regarding your Plan A/B you have to make your own experience by using virtualization technology. You can't expect other do that for you.

Perhaps check out Maldua Zimbra, it is opens source.
