Is there anyone moderating this forum? What frequency would that be?

I have reported my topic: My oberservation in the documentation 25.3.0 several times and nothing happened.

Could anyone please delete the two duplicated topics that have only one posts.

The first topic with two posts is the one I like to keep.

Thank you

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback.

  • I have removed those duplicate posts.
  • About you observation on executing the script
    • Yes, setting hostname and hosts file is required before executing the script.
    • And to successfully execute the script and download Carbonio CE packages, you need to set Carbonio CE's repository.
    • Both of these tasks are described in the preliminaries section of the documentation.

We always recommend our users to read the requirements, preliminaries carefully to avoid unwanted issue during installation. We appreciate your feedback and suggestions.

😊

@Md. Shariful Islam

I have noticed the documentation page has been updated to 25.3.1 and there I cannot find the installation script no more.

Now there is Ansible.

I guess this post is also no good to anyone at all now.

Please delete.

Could you please share the page link where you have found ansible in place of bash script?

@Md. Shariful Islam

I just realize I was looking at the wrong document. I should have taken a closer look of what I was reading. Sorry folks.

Unfortunately, I cannot edit my own comment here. Bummer! Not good in my opinion.

Document: Must be the paid version - Ansible installation

https://docs.zextras.com/carbonio/html/index.html

Document: Community edition has the bash script

https://docs.zextras.com/carbonio-ce/html/index.html

To go back on the observation post I made - now deleted

First you sign up and then one gets an email saying:

To install Carbonio CE follow these steps:

So I read a bit in the document and finally I see the part with installation bash script.

https://docs.zextras.com/carbonio-ce/html/install/scenarios/single-server-scenario.html

There it says:

Single-Server installation

Automatic Script-based Installation

To correctly run the script, please follow these advices

Make sure you have already run the script you received after registering Carbonio CE, which sets up the Carbonio CE repositories

"example"

Before you run the install carbonio_ce_singleserver_ubuntu.sh you must do the preliminaries (linked text) step according your operating system

Well, there is no script to run from the email received. If someone does not read all of the document and just finds and downloads the bash script the install Carbonio CE will fail. In my opinion there should be another reference to the preliminary section as I marked with "example" above. Something along that line anyway.

Hi,

your observation about the email is correct. We used to send repo configuration script via email but now repo configuration is available in the documentation ( https://docs.zextras.com/carbonio-ce/html/install/preliminary.html#configure-repositories ). Therefore, we should modify the instructions in the documentation about getting script via email.

I will convey this feedback to our team. we will fix this section soon.

BTW, the information you receive via email are proper. There it says,

Thanks again for your feedback to improve the documentation.
