The Requirements section of Carbonio CE docs (link) state that VirtualBox is for testing purposes only. Does anyone know why? Maybe because there is a known problem or just that compatibility has not been fully tested yet? Thanks.
My post is still awaiting moderation after two weeks. Do I need to do anything to move this on and have my question published? Thanks.
Hi,
Merry Christmas.
Sorry for the delayed response.
There are no known problems of using VirtualBox to deploy Carbonio CE. It is more relevant to limitations rather than problems. Let me tell you some facts:
1. If anyone wants to deploy Carbonio CE in any production environment, then it is always recommended to use type-1 hypervisor or any dedicated hardware to maximize resource utilization.
2. Type-1 hypervisor omits the dependency on the host OS hence the system becomes more efficient.
3. Also type-1 hypervisor offers several other benefits over type-2 hypervisor.
So it is not like you can not use type-2 hypervisor but it would not be wise thing.
I hope you can understand the facts.
Happy new year ahead and I wish you a good day.
Regards,
Sharif
