Dear Team,
I have performed a fresh installation of the latest version of Zextras Carbonio on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS in a test environment. All functionalities have been thoroughly tested and are working as expected.
As part of the transition to production, I now need to:
-
Update the server's IP address, and
-
Change the mail domain name.
Could someone please advise on the recommended and supported procedure for updating the mail server domain and IP address in Carbonio after a successful test deployment?
Any official documentation or step-by-step guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Puviarasu
Hi,
Glad to hear about your feedback about Carbonio CE on Ubuntu 24.04LTS.
You can check following information:
https://docs.zextras.com/carbonio-ce/html/admincli/management/changeip.html
https://docs.zextras.com/carbonio-ce/html/admincli/management/changehostname.html#
There are no official document right now about changing domain name. But considering the above two page information, my 2 cents would be to configure the server with your required preferences (IP address, domain, hostname etc). So that you do not have to worry about right procedure to modify something critical.
Regards,
Appreciate it, Sharif. I’ll go through the documents and follow up as needed.
To transition Zextras Carbonio from the test environment to production, you’ll need to update both the server’s IP address and the mail domain. First, update your DNS records (A & MX) with the new IP. Then, SSH into your server, modify the /etc/hosts and /etc/network/interfaces files if necessary, and restart the network service using the command sudo systemctl restart network-manager. For the mail domain, update the MX records and any SPF/DKIM settings for the new domain, and in the Admin Console, go to Configuration > Domains to change the domain name. Don’t forget to update your SSL certificates for the new domain as well. Finally, ensure everything works by testing email sending and receiving, along with web access. It’s also a good idea to take backups of your configuration and databases before making any changes. You can refer to the Zextras documentation for more detailed guidance.
