Hi,

We would like an address book for access by a single domain.

I can set one up just like we do with shared calendars ie a normal account and then manually sharing out the address book to users and then manually finding the shared calendar by logging in to each users account and accepting the share.

That is fine but wondered if there was an easier way.

Also is there a way to not to have to manually accept shares for each single user on each share this is very time consuming.

Thanks

Hello Snowy,

Regarding your first question, yes, the AddressBook can be used for a single domain. Here you can learn exactly how to do it, https://community.zextras.com/how-to-add-address-books-at-domain-and-global-level-with-zextras-mobile/ .

About the second question, this link might be helpful, Zmmailbox - Zimbra :: Tech Center, with the (x) option you can set all of them at once as accepted, although it's not automatic it can be a faster way.

Hi,

How can we display the address book by last name, first name without having to edit every contact and change this sorting order?

Thank you

Hi,

Unfortunately, it cannot be done since through the settings it is only possible to add, list, and remove the address books.

Hi Arman,

Thank you for your prompt reply. This is a very useful feature that so many users ask about on the blogs and forums, it is a bit disappointing that it was not implemented since the beginning of Zimbra, managing a dozens of contacts is not a big deal but when you have hundreds, it is kind of impossible mission to do and I could not imagine before starting to use Zimbra that it could be missing.
Most of contacts application have a filing or reorganization features included.
Do you think it will be added one day?

Hi,

I completely agree with you about having this feature. I asked about it from our colleagues and shared your opinion with them. I think I need a clarification, are you refering to address book or contact list?

Thanks

Hi Arman,

I did not use the term Address book in my post, I only see Contacts in Zimbra. But what is the difference practically speaking?

You're right but I meant your previous question: "How can we display the address book by last name?" The reason I'm asking is that Zextras has implemented its own address book which you can see the difference with one of Zimbra here Zextras Address Book Feature – Zextras Community Blog. In your first question, I thought you are referring to Zextras address book but in the second question, it seems that you are simply talking about the Zimbra contact list. So to answer your second question I needed to know to which are you referring 🙂 .
