[CardDav] An unusual finding, any ideas on if this is known or can be fixed?

First let me say that we are just getting into synching calendars and contacts with iPhone
so please bear with me if I leave something out that might be helpful, but I need to get a discussion
going about our findings. First of all, we are not leveraging zXmobile at the moment but instead are relying
on CalDav to synch contacts and calendars. This seems to work well with iPhone but we have uncovered
an issue where if you create a new contact using a PC it does not appear under the iPhones contacts except when:

1) The new contact was created by 'emailing the contact'.
2) The contact is moved from the default 'contacts' folder into the 'emailed contacts' folder.

In fact a new contact becomes visible in the iPhone as long as it is NOT in the default 'Contacts' folder.

Perhaps more odd, if I edit a contact in the default 'Contacts' folder the changes ARE propagated to the iPhone.

Any ideas on why this is? I can probably create a workaround but it seems like a bug somewhere.

Our zimbra version is 7.1.2
