zimbra migration to new server: how to manage the backup's migration

Hello we're migrating to a new server using incremental restore from our backup repository mounted via NFS on both server (origin and destination).
the restore does work very well but i was wondering how to manage the exixsting backup data once I've the new server in production. I mean, may I just point the smart scan of the new server to the same NFS folder where the old backup server was saving his backups?
If not how could I manage the old backuped up mails/account.. ?
