iPhone IOS 5.1.1 have to reset phone to keep sync working

My wife and I both have iphone 4s. We are both running IOS 5.1.1. I am using zextras 1.4.1 on zimbra community edition 7.2 with the patch installed.
I have been struggling with this problem for a while now, but I am turning here for help after monitoring my syc log recently.
Both of our phones only seem to successfully sync (as in the email is pushed to the full, not pulled) for a few hours, then they will stop. The only way to get sync working again is to power off the phone and power it back on again.
Interestingly, in my log I see that my ipad (same IOS version) syncs every time without issues. It is on 4G LTE from verizon, no WIFI. However, I see the activity on my phone stop...and then messages like this start appearing:
