I have not once tried to set up an iPhone that didn't end up taking hours or days
to get it working. Presently I am again faced with this issue. It seems like with every release
of IOS there is some sort of new and improved brokenness.
With that out of the way. Here are the specifics.
Zimbra 8.8.15_GA_3955_FOSS
Zextras 3.0.11
iPhone 8+ IOS 13.6.1 also tested with latest 13.7
Process used to try and create account:
1) Using 'Settings' on phone.
2) In Settings, scroll to 'Passwords & Accounts'
3) Clicked on 'Passwords and Accounts'
4) Find and Clicked 'Add Account'.
5) Click 'Microsoft Exchange'
6) Enter email address.
7) In Description put an identifier (used backspace to get rid of auto-filled ‘Exchange’)
Clicked the blue ‘Next’ in upper right corner.
9) Clicked 'Configure Manually' when the prompt appears.
10) Entered email password.
11) Clicked the blue ‘Next’ in upper right corner.
12) In the ‘Server’ field put server.domain.com (generic format not actual entered data)
13) In the ‘Username’ field put username without the @domain.name.
14) Clicked the blue ‘Next’ in upper right corner.
15) I should get a lot of blue checkmarks and then the screen advancing to a bunch of sliders.
Instead I get:
Exchange Account
Unable to verify account information.
OK
Verified server is able to be accessed and logged in with same information using Safari browser on same iPhone.
If I go tell it to save the account it of course reports it may not work.
If I then try to use the account in the mail app I see An error occurred in the bottom of the mail app.
Clicking on details it says
Cannot Get Mail
The connection to the server failed
OK
We are using a commercial certificate.
I am at a loss.
