Environment:

Carbonio Edition: Community Edition (CE)

Carbonio Server OS: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

Carbonio version: Carbonio Release 25.3.1

Component: Webmail composer

Browser:

Google Chrome Version 138.0.7204.51 (64-bit)

Mozilla Firefox 140.0 (64-bit)

Apple Safari Version 17.6 (17618.3.11.11.7, 17618)

Microsoft Edge for Business Version 138.0.3351.65 (Official build) (64-bit)

Operating System: Windows 10 Enterprise Version 22H2 (Client machine), for Apple Safari - macOS Monterey Version 12.7.6

Description:

When composing an email and inserting inline images into the body using the Carbonio webmail interface, the following bugs occur:

The first inserted image displays correctly.

When inserting a second and each subsequent different image inline, the preview shows the first image again, even though a different image was selected and uploaded.

If one of the inserted inline images is deleted from the editor, it appears removed in the draft, but after sending the email, the previously deleted image is still included as an attachment.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open Carbonio webmail.
  2. Compose a new message.
  3. Click the "Add Inline Image" icon in the WYSIWYG editor.
  4. Upload and insert Image A.
  5. Repeat the process to insert Image B (a different image).

Observe:The second image preview is the same as Image A.

  1. Delete one of the inline images from the mail body.
  2. Send the email.

Observe the received email: The deleted image appears as an attachment.

Expected Behavior:

Each uploaded image should be inserted and previewed correctly.

Deleted inline images should be completely removed and not included in the sent email.

Actual Behavior:

The second and each subsequent image, that is inserted inline, is replaced by a copy of the first. (Only in Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome the correct image is actually displayed.)

Deleted images still appear as attachments in the sent message.

Hi @arman @sharif,
just following up on this bug report.
Could you let me know if it’s already tracked or resolved in the latest Carbonio release?
Thank you!

Hi.

Our Carbonio Community Edition! Version is 26.3.0 and is running on a Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS

Is not possible to attach an screeshot here, but for a mail send from carbonio server to an outside domain, the attach image nor appears. The image attached via ctrl-c ctrl-v not appear in the destination email in an outside domain.

Any clue for that ?

@victorsina

For the Ctrl-V paste behavior on 26.3.0: the recommendation is to insert inline images using the toolbar Add inline image option, instead of pasting from the clipboard. The Add inline image path is the supported way to embed images for delivery to external clients like Gmail and Outlook.
