We've got something exciting to discuss – making our email security game even stronger! We're diving into the Authenticated Received Chain (ARC) world and how it can be a game-changer for Carbonio.

Here is a survey for you to help us!

So, What’s ARC? Think of it like this: when your emails go through things like mailing lists or forwarding, sometimes the usual security checks can get a bit tangled. ARC comes in to straighten things out, ensuring that your legitimate messages don't get lost in the chaos.

Why Should You Care? When we talk about Carbonio, where keeping your email fortress strong is key, ARC plays the role of a guardian. It keeps your authentication intact as your emails go through different stops, ensuring they reach their destination without a hitch.

Why We Need You! Your insights matter big time! By sharing your thoughts in this survey, you're helping us fine-tune the way Carbonio handles email security.

Ready to Dive In? Please take the survey here!

Your time means a lot to us. Thanks for being part of this journey to make Carbonio even more awesome!

Hello, sorry to bring this topic, are there advances in bring ARC into Carbonio?

Hello everyone,

The Zextras crew is delighted to present Carbonio Community Edition 24.12.0 with various improvements and new features.

Features to highlight:

Automatic Version Cleanup for Optimized Storage
With this release, Zextras Carbonio introduces automatic cleanup for version control in Files, enabling sysadmins to maintain optimal storage efficiency. When the maximum number of versions of a file for a node is reduced, the system automatically deletes the oldest versions exceeding the new limit. Additionally, sysadmins can configure a retention period, ensuring versions older than a specified number of days are removed.

Enhanced Account Status Management and Storage Reclamation
This update enhances account status management with a focus on storage efficiency and seamless file access. Domain admins can now set accounts to a “closed” status, temporarily disabling access to shared folders and public links without permanent data loss. Files created by closed accounts in shared folders remain accessible and modifiable, marked with the account’s current status. Additionally, a scheduled service automatically removes all blobs and metadata for permanently deleted accounts, reclaiming storage space and maintaining system cleanliness.

Optional Access Codes for Enhanced Shared Folder Security
Zextras Carbonio CE now offers optional access codes for shared folders, providing a "2-step-access" mechanism with customizable 10-character codes. Users can generate, view, and refresh access codes during link creation, ensuring compliance with internal policies. Admins can configure restrictions, such as requiring access codes for all public links or disabling public link creation entirely.

Admin Control for Maximum File Size in Editable Documents
To enhance performance in Carbonio Docs, admins can now define a maximum file size for editable documents like .xlsx files. This feature addresses issues of slowed editing and scrolling in large files, ensuring smoother and more responsive document handling. By setting size limits, admins can optimize the system's performance and provide a better user experience when working with Docs.

Enhanced Preview Support for SVG, TIFF, and Video Playback on Files
Zextras Carbonio CE now supports SVG and TIFF previews and introduces seamless video playback in Files. For videos, users can now stream directly from Files without downloading, ensuring accessibility even for large meeting recordings. This feature eliminates the need for specialized software, enabling users to preview images and play videos effortlessly within the platform.

Smarter PDF Handling to Prevent Unnecessary Downloads
In this release, Zextras Carbonio CE enhances efficiency by preventing automatic downloads of PDFs when the preview is unavailable. If a fallback component is displayed instead of a document preview, the system will no longer send a request to fetch the document content. This improvement reduces unnecessary data usage and optimizes resource management, especially for large files, ensuring a smoother user experience across all modules.

Admin Control for Maximum File Size of Uploadable Attachments
Zextras Carbonio CE now allows both global and domain admins to define the maximum file size for uploadable attachments directly through the admin panel. This setting can be configured at the domain or Class of Service (COS) level, offering precise control over file upload limits. By tailoring these limits, admins can manage storage efficiently and ensure adherence to organizational policies, providing a more customizable and scalable environment.

Smarter Notification Management for Calendar Updates
This update refines how Zextras Carbonio CE handles calendar invitations, ensuring notifications are sent only to updated attendees when changes are made. Adding or removing attendees triggers notifications exclusively for those impacted. Updates to other event fields prompt notification for all attendees, maintaining clarity without unnecessary disruptions.

Forward Appointment Feature for Better Collaboration
Zextras Carbonio CE introduces the long-requested ability to forward appointments, addressing a common use case where users need to add new participants to an existing meeting. This functionality mirrors email forwarding, enabling users to easily share calendar events with additional attendees. Now, users no longer need to create duplicates of appointments to invite others, enhancing collaboration and improving the overall user experience.

Calendar Side-by-Side View for Enhanced Team Planning
The new Calendar Side-by-Side view allows managers to seamlessly view the schedules of multiple team members in a single, consolidated view. This graphical layout provides a clear overview of each person's day, helping managers identify gaps and overlaps in their team’s work. With this feature, coordinating meetings and optimizing team productivity becomes more intuitive and efficient, offering a better understanding of available time slots.

S/MIME Signature Verification for Incoming Emails
Zextras Carbonio now enables users to verify the S/MIME signature for signed incoming emails, enhancing security and trust. By introducing the carbonioSMIMESignatureVerificationEnabled LDAP parameter, admins can activate this feature.

Improved Search Results Counter and Multi-Selection Feedback
Zextras Carbonio CE enhances the search results display by showing the actual number of items found. This improvement ensures users can see the total number of results when using advanced filters, such as date fields. Additionally, the multi-selection header now accurately reflects the number of selected items.

Optimized Email Preview for Large Messages
Zextras Carbonio CE improves email preview performance, especially when dealing with large messages. For users on older computers or with low bandwidth, emails with large content may take too long to render. To address this, the system now blocks email loads for oversized messages and provides a warning to the user, along with an option to load the full email content upon request. This approach enhances user experience by preventing long delays.

Infinite Scroll for Contacts with Large Contact Lists
Zextras Carbonio CE now supports infinite scroll for contacts in the "Contacts" folder, allowing users to manage contact lists that exceed 500 entries effortlessly. This improvement ensures that large contact lists are navigable, allowing for smooth user interaction, even with extensive contact data.

Notify Users About Information Stored in the Mail Header
As part of improving email security and transparency, Carbonio CE now notifies users about critical details stored in email headers, helping them understand the status and origin of incoming emails. This feature helps admins and users quickly identify whether a message is safe to trust, especially when dealing with external emails, security risks, or confidentiality concerns.

Read Message Status in a Group Chat
This feature allows users to see who has read their messages in group chats, providing better communication clarity and accountability.

Allow Users to Show/Hide Groups of Calendars
This feature introduces the ability to group calendars together, enabling users to manage and display them separately.

Display Private Appointments Details for Owner and Authorized Users
This feature enables calendar owners and users with proper permissions to view the details of private appointments directly in the calendar’s day, week, or monthly view. The functionality will improve usability by removing the need to open each appointment for detailed viewing while ensuring privacy is maintained. Private appointments, which include restricted meetings (where the organizer marks the appointment as private) and personal events (without attendees), will have an additional layer of control to hide or show these details as needed.

Forward Emails as EML Attachments
Users can now forward emails, or multiple emails, as attachments so that I can share the complete email conversation in EML format, including headers, attachments, and formatting, without losing important information.

and many more improvements!

First of all congratulations once again for all the good job and for keeping up on such a fantastic project.

I also want to point out how easy this upgrade was without errors or mistakes. You're definitively on the right path.

But not all are roses and some people in our group on Telegram @CarbonioMail are reporting issues with the webmail Preview feature, it seems it's not working. Could you please take a closer look at it? once users get used to those fancy little things they get pretty upset when it doesn't work anymore.

We'll keep you posted if any other errors show up
