Incremental migration question

Hi everybody, on next week we will be performing an incremental migration to a brand new Zimbra 8.7 server.
The wiki article is clear, but we still have one question: in step 7 we will perform another import before the DNS switching, but do we have to re-export all data from the source server (so changing the backup path) or can we simply do a smart scan on the source server, then rsync the backup folder with the one already copied in the destination server in step 4? Summarizing, is it ok to do smart scan -> rsync -> doExternalRestore?
