So, finally, we can provide an updated (latest patch) version of Zimbra 9.0!
Go ahead to read why we were able to do that and how to get it.
Why you weren’t able to update Zimbra 9
As you may know, some months ago, Zextras provided a build for Zimbra 9.0 without any modification to the source code made available by Zimbra.
The build was still relying on Zimbra repositories for third-party software and Zimbra patches.
Starting with p15, Zimbra stopped uploading patches to the OSE repository, so you no longer can update your installation with yum update / apt upgrade.
How we solved the problem
We made a new build for Zimbra 9.0 that includes the latest patch directly into the codebase, so you will be able to have an upgraded Zimbra 9.0 just by downloading and using the latest installer provided by Zextras.
Anyway, we still depend on Zimbra repositories for third-party packages, and we don’t plan to change the approach in the foreseeable future.
Follow these steps to upgrade your system
So you decide to upgrade your system, That’s the correct call
- Go ahead and download the latest installer from here
- Untar the installer, and as root run the “./install.sh”
- You will be prompted about upgrading the installation, choose Yes, and go-ahead
- At the end run a yum/apt update to be sure that all the system packages and dependencies are correctly updated
And it’s done! I hope you’re happy with this solution!
