The Zextras crew is delighted to present Carbonio Community Edition 23.10.0 with various improvements and new features.
Features to highlight:
Monitor MTA Queue and Request Cache Flush
As a Global Admin, you can now monitor the status of the MTA queue through the Admin Panel, reducing reliance on SSH for network rules and access. Our new implementation aims to offer a more secure working environment. The Admin panel will keep you informed about the queue status across all MTAs within your infrastructure, enabling interactions with individual queues and messages, and providing flush queue controls.
Admin Control over User Settings Access
Ensuring compliance, maintaining consistency, and enforcing company policies just got easier. In our latest update, we allow you, the admin, to control if a user can access and modify account settings. This feature can enforce encryption policies at financial institutions, ensure consistency in branding and formatting in communications, and adhere to company policies regarding demo accounts or interns. This limitation is enforced on both the UI and the API calls, making sure settings aren't forcibly altered.
Move Folders to the Root Level
We're enhancing functionality to allow for expanded control over your virtual workspace. Now, you have the option to move any folder to the root level using either the 'Move' modal or straightforward drag & drop. This means the target destination for any moved folder can now be your root account directory, offering more flexibility in user-specific folder management.
Seamless Editing with Floating Toolbar for Text Editor
We've improved your editing experience in long emails by introducing a floating toolbar on the mail editor. No longer will you need to scroll up to activate an editing function, as our new toolbar hovers within sight even as you write. An added bonus is the extra bottom padding that will prevent any overlapping between the last row of the editor and the toolbar itself.
Enhanced Visibility with Page Item Count
We've improved the visibility of item counts in the Admin Panel across various operating systems, such as MacOS - where the scroll bar is not visible by default. In the new release, we've introduced a page item count feature to enhance the user experience. Now, instead of seeing just "page 1 of 5", you'll also see the added information about the number of rows in each table, like 20 items per page. This ensures you're always aware of more items on the list, improving navigational efficiency.
Improving UI Experience on Smaller Screens
With the latest release of Zextras Carbonio CE, we're taking significant steps to enhance your user interface (UI) experience, especially on smaller screens. By removing responsive components and setting a minimum width to the main UI container, an intuitive horizontal scrollbar now appears under certain limits. This improvement prevents UI breakage and ensures smooth, efficient navigation even on smaller screens.
Improved Draft Auto-save
We're greatly improving your email drafting experience with our newest release. Now changes to your drafts will be accurately updated and saved. No matter how many times you edit your draft, rest assured all your changes will be kept securely stored, enhancing your productivity and efficiency.
Improved Codebase of Composer
With the new release of Zextras Carbonio CE, we've refined our mail composer/editor for improved efficiency. We’ve executed a thorough code cleanup, eliminating all unused and commented out the code from the previous implementation. This leaner, cleaner codebase not only enhances the functionality of our new editor but also facilitates easier modifications for developers working on this open-source platform.

So, here we go with my first impressions =)
I'll like to start congratulating the team for the good and hard work. I do appreciate you very much.
So, I do loved the new Stats area in Admin UI, that's specially useful for regular admins that doesn't like cli much. So tyvm!
And ofc, there is a list of already reported issues that are not fixed:
1 - that "undefined" issue when we reply messages, is still there =(
2 - Volumes management in Admin UI still doesn't work;
3 - Accounts pagination in Admin UI still broke. The way to go is do any search, then it shows as it should.
4 - Documents URL still have "lang" variable set to PT_BR instead of PT-BR. At least right now it's not preventing the editor from working like it was before, but it still wrong, so editor doesn't translate to PT-BR;
And there is a couple of new issues I want to report:
1 - When you share a file on Docs with a Public Link, it generates the URL with "http://" instead of "https://"... I would like to suggest it was always generated with "https" to prevent browsers from complaining.
2 - When a user go to his General Setting and roll all the way down he sees how much percentage he is using of his quota, but it doesn't display the quota size.... so let's say it's 35% used.... what does that mean without knowing the total?
I know it looks like we don't appreciate much your effort but it's much the opposite. Come here and report this issues is our way to tell you we enjoy the software, we want it to get better and we're looking forward to see this things fixed.

@antonio I didn't got any permission issues on my controlled testing environment.
OFC I'll test it a couple of times more before I feel secure to do it on production.
@anahuac, yes I confirm all problems except problem 1. Regarding problem 1 - now everything is working as it should and my mail finally contain not only the address, but also the name of the sender! Problem "undefined" are fixed.
I would like to add two more problems that I had after upgrading from version 23.7.4 to 23.9 and persisted when upgrading to version 23.10:

And one very old problem is relevant, perhaps only for the Russian language:

Hi @anahuac, I have informed our developers about all your points. Thanks for bringing them to our attention.
Regarding the public links for the documents, I can confirm that this behavior is due to how the account is created and/or how the domain is set in carbonio-mailbox. carbonio-files has no knowledge of this kind of information since it is fetched from the mailbox itself and if the domain is set to http then the public link is generated according to this setting.
@arman first thanks for forwarding my report to the devs, appreciated it.
So, regarding the public links for the documents, may you please be more specific about what do I need to setup on accounts settings to make it generates those links with https?
I have been creating accounts as usual, I mean, I don't do anything fancy or different =)
Two more bugs that is annoying me personally LOL
I have this "persona" set on my account and I have a specific Signature set to it. Every time I reload Carbonio webmail that setup is lost. So I have to go in Personal Configurations and set it up again. It doesn't stick.
The same thin happens with "Trusted addresses" area... all my inputs are gone after a reload.
It's like it doesn't really save it on the LDAP, so when account is reload it's gone and you have to do it again.
All those little things makes regular users fell it as a bad experience.... and so they complain... and users complain with no reason... so I would love to see those little things fixed asap =)

Regarding the "undefined bug", although it has been solved in the Form or To this
"Undefined" <usergal@domain.com>
now in 23.10 shows you only the email <usergal@domain.com>
but the expected behavior is
"User Gal" <usergal@domain.com>, can you please report it to the developers and thank you again.
