A similar situation. Even after the restart, the services do not start automatically.

Same here. After reboot ubuntu, we need to do a zmcontrol start to get webmail login page work again.

But, zmcontrol status says :

zmclamdctl is not running
zmfreshclamctl is not running
zmlogswatchctl is not running
...
The other services are Running

The admin panel monitor check in red every services.

But, webmail seams to work correctly except that each received email are flagged UNCHECKED probably due to the clamav not running.

zmclamdctl is not running

When we do that you suggest in this post :

https://community.zextras.com/forum/postid/2625/

antivirus is running again and new incoming mails are not flagged UNCHECKED anymore ! Thanks

You could also try apt install libpcre2-8-0 as the root user and then freshclam --config-file=./conf/freshclam.conf and zmantivirusctl start as the zextras and check them again.

On my deployment, i have noticed that there are discrepancies in running services, where the server admin shows no services are running, but on the backend they are shown to be running properly

I confirm this bug. As nitram says basically zmcontrol status might show that every service is running. However when checking the Admin Console it shows that all of them are stopped.

This problem might be caused because of zmlogger dependencies not being installed properly. I found out that zmlogswatchctl was not able to run properly as in /opt/zextras/log/zmlogswatch.out file you found:

Can't load '/opt/zextras/common/lib/perl5/x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi/auto/RRDs/RRDs.so' for module RRDs: libpangocairo-1.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory at /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl/5.26/DynaLoader.pm line 187.
^@ at /opt/zextras/libexec/zmlogger line 13.
Compilation failed in require at /opt/zextras/libexec/zmlogger line 13.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /opt/zextras/libexec/zmlogger line 13.

The workaround for this specific error is to run:

apt install libpangocairo-1.0-0

and restart the system thanks to zmcontrol restart .

The problem is that, even after installing this package the services are never shown as running in the Admin Console. I tried to regenerate keys, recreate zmloggerhostmap, apply zmsyslogsetup or even reset /opt/zextras/logger/db/data . None of this works.

So, I'll leave the Zextras team to take a look at this one.

Note: This Carbonio version was installed on 2022-01-13 from an Ubuntu 18.04 minimal installation.

Logwatch errors can also be solved with the apt-get install -y librrds-perl command (at least that worked well for me)

First time install for me with anything zextras using Release 22.1.0 Community Edition on ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS

I should have checked this forum first. Only 2 small problems and easy to work around.

1) memcached didn't start. That is a direct result of me disabling ipv6:

Simplest solution was to bypass the following logic in zmmemcachedctl by setting zimbraMemcachedBindAddress so this line:

/opt/zextras/common/bin/${servicename} -d -P ${pidfile} -U 0 -l 127.0.1.1,127.0.0.1,::1 -p ${port:-11211}

is NOT executed and use the else clause for a bind address from above

/opt/zextras/common/bin/${servicename} -d -P ${pidfile} -U 0 -l ${addr} -p ${port:-11211}

Workaround: set it explicitly first and start it manually.

zmprov ms `zmhostname` zimbraMemcachedBindAddress 127.0.0.1
zmmemcachedctl start

2) swatch wouldn't start because RDDs.so needed libpangocairo-1.0.so.0 until I installed the library

Other than that, super easy to get this up and running. Well done!

Note: we run RHEL8 so looking forward to that version

Jim

Hello all, just installed a fresh Ubuntu 20.04, lastest, etc etc etc ...

I want to deploy this on Ubuntu 20 so waited for its release but:

Deployed Cabonio CE today, some hour ago, and all the issues above are happening ...

Admin CP showing ALL services down, but zmcontrol shows only the logger service not running.

I know that Zextras can do better than this, and if you need Beta Testers I think you count on us, but PLEASE, do not release a product, even a FOSS with all this 'confusion' during setup.

Zimbra is around for so many years, I think that I first encounter it around 2003, and Zextras has so GOOD products and knowledge, for doing this mess.

So please, let's get this solved, and my question is:

What can we do to help ??

For now, my upgrade is on hold because of this, so let me help, just tell me how.

Much appreciate the effort of the Dev team of Zextras.

Regards.

JG

Hi jasgg_it,

As you probably know we are porting all those pieces directly form the Carbonio project  on internal Bitbucket to Github and changing our CI/CD accordingly.

Every single step to create the OpenSource version is also assuring all of us this one will be the master we will also use internally for our builds but is taking longer than expected because all the modification it requires.

Just take a look to the Github commit to understand the size of the work that is required.

We are committed to release the best product ever but it will require a some more time and every next version will include more code, more features and a better experience.

I personally believe is better to show to the community the effort we are putting and the steps we are doing, involving you all in testing and reporting, instead of just waiting some more time and giving you what we think is the final product.

Thanks for asking what you can do for help, my answer is: testing and reporting .

In the next days and weeks we are going to complete Carbonio CE with "Files"  and Document editing, the new service discovery system and the new database system. We are also improving installation and setting presets.

So please consider this phase as a beta phase until we will reach completeness  for CarbonioCE and if you can and want please continue to support us giving your feedbacks.

Thank you everybody for you effort and look forward to grow this project together.

Bests,

Paolo

@paolo first of let me apologize for my post. It should not be written that way. Tried to edit it but wasn’t possible.
Second, thank you for your kind reply and explanation for the project. Somehow I did an expectation about it and felt that wasn’t satisfactory but as you said, it’s an huge project to fork the Zimbra and you are doing it! No one else did and tried it.

I will give my best to help the project grow and go the direction as it deserves.

i m a retired it tech so feel free to let me know how can I help.

best regards and thank you All for doing this.

Any update on this? Same happens here.. Using workarounds I managed to get all services running on the CLI but no services running in the GUI.

Fresh install on Ubuntu 20.04 with Carbonio CE up to date.

@roxsman Did you wait a few minutes after confirming zmcontrol shows everything up? After about 5 minutes my GUI caught up and shows everything running after initially saying services were down.

I have this error is it because I do not use port 22 but another custom port?
