Thanks a lot (for real..!). Does this mean it will be Zextras that will handle updates for the future?
You might like to know that Zimbra have restarted building the Open Source ZCS, you can find it here: https://www.zimbra.com/try/zimbra-collaboration-open-source/ - I've also posted this on the Zimbra Forums a while back.
Hi phoenix. What do you mean exactly? Will zimbra release Zimbra 9 as OSS?
Hi phoenix. What do you mean exactly? Will zimbra release Zimbra 9 as OSS?
Yes, that's exactly what I mean. If you follow the link I posted you'll see it's a download for the Open Source versions of ZCS.

Nope, it says: 8.8.15 GA Release for download. Can't find the 9 version.
You're quite right, perhaps I'm being a bit premature!

what makes you think that SYNACOR will start to support OSE for Zimbra 9 ? do you have informations ? is it your intuition ? links ? ticket ?
I have the same error after Zimbra update. Your solution worked for me thanks.
Hello everyone,
I'm glad to inform you the new Zimbra 9.0.0 OSE built by Zextras based on patch 28 is now available for download.
- Download the package: https://www.zextras.com/zextras-build-based-on-zimbra-official-repository/
- Read more about patches and updating: https://community.zextras.com/how-we-solved-the-issue-of-updating-zimbra-9/
Have a nice one!
@arman Thanks for the good work! I am gonna try it and let you know.
@arman Just curious. What are the correct update steps? I see from Zimbra several steps but are they included in the Zextras package?
https://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/Zimbra_Releases/9.0.0/P28
Do I have to?:
zmprov md domain_name zimbraVirtualHostName virtual_hostname
apt-get install zimbra-common-core-jar zimbra-common-core-libs zimbra-mbox-store-libs
Zextras page:
Follow these steps to upgrade your system
So you decide to upgrade your system, That’s the correct call
- Go ahead and download the latest installer from here
- Untar the installer, and as root run the “./install.sh”
- You will be prompted about upgrading the installation, choose Yes, and go-ahead
- At the end run a yum/apt update to be sure that all the system packages and dependencies are correctly updated
And it’s done! I hope you’re happy with this solution!
You should follow the instructions on the "Zextras page:" You don't need to do anything else, I've already installed it and, as usual, there's no problems.
I've just completed my upgrade from
(9.0.0.ZEXTRAS.20221203.UBUNTU18.64) over (9.0.0.ZEXTRAS.20220402.UBUNTU18.64)
Successfully, as far as my testing show. Log message of concern:
Sat Dec 31 05:12:53 2022 Updating global config and COS's with attributes introduced after 9.0.0_ZEXTRAS... ------------- com.zimbra.cs.account.ldap.upgrade.LdapUpgrade -b 27075 -v 9.0.0_ZEXTRAS -------------- invalid version: 9.0.0_ZEXTRAS usage: com.zimbra.cs.account.ldap.upgrade.LdapUpgrade <options> [args] -b,--bug <arg> bug number this upgrade is for -d,--desc <arg> describe this upgrade task -da,--descAll describe all upgrade tasks -h,--help print usage -v,--verbose be verbose
Will this be an issue?
Thanks!
Doug
@martinwiertz So I presume we remove any old references to the Zimbra repos in the apt/sources.list.d/ before doing an update && upgrade or dist-upgrade?
