Team: make buddies (across domains)?

How can you make buddies from the commandline?

looks like the doMakeBuddies and doAddBuddies are gone from zxsuite.

We have users in different domains we'd like to connect, "new conversation" button in teams tab doesn't bring up the username even if typing email in full. Do all buddies have to be in the same domain?
