Hello,
Who knows why Zimbra 9 Open Source is not updated?
The last number of a patch for 9.0.0 was 14.
Now actual one is 16.
???
Best regards, Nik

John (Holder, from Synacor) aknowledge in the Zimbra forum there was an issue with their repo and it was not correctly updated (doesn't contain the patches).

They (Synacor) are supposed to fix it.

@klug Hi John,

Great news.

Do you know when the repository for FOSS will be fixed/working? Lot of confusing reports about support to FOSS-users.

I'm not John.
The thread on the "official" Zimbra forum has not been updated about this issue yet.

@klug I'm sorry klug. 🙂

Indeed no update info from Zimbra on this topic.

New Zimbra policy seems to be that provider of the FOSS-release (Zextras/Beezim) also need to provide patches. (based on the notes from the Alliance calls)  Strange behaviour and disappointing new policy to the OSS-community.

Do we know how Zextra is on this Zimbra policy?

A Zimbra employee indicated that patches are available on GitHub and selfservice is possible on building binaries. I can't find the patches and it is complicated for me to compile/build. (I am willing but need instruction)

Hi @martinwiertz,

If you're willing to build it yourself, you will find all the necessary information here https://github.com/Zimbra/zm-build . However, if you find it too complicated, why not using Zextras build? You can find more information on https://www.zextras.com/zextras-build-based-on-zimbra-official-repository/ .

I hope this helps.

@arman Hello Arman, thanks.

I have started my v9 install with Zextras build. (in place upgrade) The server was based on the Zimbra build. My assumption is that the Zextras build is initial and patches are still needed by Zimbra repositories. Correct?

If not how do I change my config to get the patches?

Release 9.0.0.ZEXTRAS.202007114.UBUNTU18.64 UBUNTU18_64 FOSS edition, Patch 9.0.0_P14.

@martinwiertz

I'd suggest downloading the Zextras build again to have the most recent one. It should be based on 9.9.0P16 which is the most recent one as you see here https://blog.zimbra.com/2021/06/new-zimbra-patches-9-0-0-patch-16-and-8-8-15-patch-23/ .

Hi Arman,

Today I downloaded the new build from Zextras. I received an email and used the link....latest-zextras.tgz.

After installation I noticed I am still on P14. The downloaded file from July 16, 251Mb.

Zmcontrol -v confirms P14.

Release 9.0.0.ZEXTRAS.202007114.UBUNTU18.64 UBUNTU18_64 FOSS edition, Patch 9.0.0_P14.

Is the latest download file correct on the server?

@martinwiertz Hi, I checked as well and you're right. It might be a possibility for Zextras to make the new version available publicly in the near future however it's not verified yet. Until then you might find this link just a bit helpful https://community.zextras.com/zimbra-9-by-zextras-installation/ .

@martinwiertz

Yes, it's already approved. The new build of Zimbra 9 based on patch 17 will be available soon on Zextras website.

@arman

Thanks a lot (for real..!).   Does this mean it will be Zextras that will handle updates for the future?
