Hi,

Any news on a new Zextras Zimbra-FOSS build? Latest is July 6 and 9.0.0p25. I saw some patches from Zimbra and like to inquire to a new build.

Currently I am updating only via Zextras builds. Not via Zimbra repo patches.

Thanks!

I'd also like to know the timescale for an update to this version of ZCS.

Does anyone know if it is safe to upgrade Centos7 to the latest 9.0.0 yet?  Its been several months since I last tried to do an upgrade but I ended up having to roll it back because mailboxd would not start, see this post.  https://community.zextras.com/forum/zimbra-ose-9-by-zextras/mailbox-service-is-not-starting-after-os-update-this-morning/paged/3/#post-3355

Anyway, I am currently running 9.0.0_ZEXTRAS_20220402.FOSS.  A quick check of YUM shows the following packages are available to upgrade but I am concerned there isn't a lot of discussion on what is safe or not safe??

When there is some new rpm from zimbra repository, you better use a new zextras build, every time.

So my best bet is to wait for Zextras to build a new packages of zimbra9  to install both new local packages that match with new repository updated rpm.

So yes, it takes some times, schedule, coordination and dependencies to install a Zextras zimbra9, you can't do it whenever you want.

Just to be clear, are you saying that 9.0.0_ZEXTRAS_20220402.FOSS is the latest stable version that installs and works ok?

Isn't the 20220705 version the one that had all the problems with mailboxd not starting?

Hello,

Sure. Zextras has already started integrating patch 27 into the build, however, due to some issues, it didn't pass the tests therefore you didn't receive any update on it. However, we will continue working on it and have more releases in the upcoming months.

We’ll update you as soon as possible.

Cheers!

there were a post on this forums for this error:

here is a extract.

Anyone who is also having issues upgrading to the p25 version of Zextras Zimbra please edit your "mailboxd_java_options" config.

You need to do the following steps as "Zimbra" user (sudo su zimbra):

execute

zmlocalconfig mailboxd_java_options
copy every thing after "=" - e.g.:
mailboxd_java_options = -server -Dhttps.protocols=TLSv1.2,TLSv1.3 -Djdk.tls.client.protocols=TLSv1.2,TLSv1.3 -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl= -Dorg.apache.jasper.compiler.disablejsr199=true -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=1 -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:G1NewSizePercent=15 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=45 -XX:-OmitStackTraceInFastThrow -verbose:gc -Xlogfile=/opt/zimbra/log/gc.logfilecount=20,filesize=10m -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true

edit the configuration and add "--add-opens java.base/java.lang=ALL-UNNAMED" at the end.

It should look like
zmlocalconfig -e mailboxd_java_options="-server -Dhttps.protocols=TLSv1.2,TLSv1.3 -Djdk.tls.client.protocols=TLSv1.2,TLSv1.3 -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl=${networkaddress_cache_ttl} -Dorg.apache.jasper.compiler.disablejsr199=true -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=1 -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:G1NewSizePercent=15 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=45 -XX:-OmitStackTraceInFastThrow -verbose:gc -Xlogfile=/opt/zimbra/log/gc.logfilecount=20,filesize=10m -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true --add-opens java.base/java.lang=ALL-UNNAMED"

If you repeat step 1 you should see the --add-opens java.base/java.lang=ALL-UNNAMED

If so then restart zmmailboxd and you should be good to go.

there were a post on this forums for this error:

here is a extract.

Anyone who is also having issues upgrading to the p25 version of Zextras Zimbra please edit your "mailboxd_java_options" config.

You need to do the following steps as "Zimbra" user (sudo su zimbra):

execute

zmlocalconfig mailboxd_java_options
copy every thing after "=" - e.g.:
mailboxd_java_options = -server -Dhttps.protocols=TLSv1.2,TLSv1.3 -Djdk.tls.client.protocols=TLSv1.2,TLSv1.3 -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl= -Dorg.apache.jasper.compiler.disablejsr199=true -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=1 -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:G1NewSizePercent=15 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=45 -XX:-OmitStackTraceInFastThrow -verbose:gc -Xlogfile=/opt/zimbra/log/gc.logfilecount=20,filesize=10m -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true

edit the configuration and add "--add-opens java.base/java.lang=ALL-UNNAMED" at the end.

It should look like
zmlocalconfig -e mailboxd_java_options="-server -Dhttps.protocols=TLSv1.2,TLSv1.3 -Djdk.tls.client.protocols=TLSv1.2,TLSv1.3 -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl=${networkaddress_cache_ttl} -Dorg.apache.jasper.compiler.disablejsr199=true -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=1 -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:G1NewSizePercent=15 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=45 -XX:-OmitStackTraceInFastThrow -verbose:gc -Xlogfile=/opt/zimbra/log/gc.logfilecount=20,filesize=10m -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true --add-opens java.base/java.lang=ALL-UNNAMED"

If you repeat step 1 you should see the --add-opens java.base/java.lang=ALL-UNNAMED

If so then restart zmmailboxd and you should be good to go.

I am going to try now.  But there is a slight difference between the two-

-Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl=${networkaddress_cache_ttl}

Your instructions worked thank you.  In my case I used -Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl=

where nothing trailed the = sign.
