Hello @martinwiertz,

The version 9.0.0_ZEXTRAS_20210811_UBUNTU18_64. Does anyone know which patch this is?

This is 9.0.0p17.

"Updating global config and COS's with attributes introduced after 9.0.0_ZEXTRAS...failed."

Could you please share with me more information on this issue?

In particular, it could be useful to know if this error has been reported during the upgrade process while running ./install or in the mailbox.log file at the mailboxd reboot or elsewhere.

Also, could you please check the logs for any stacktrace or other useful information related to the issue?

If you want to share your mailbox.log or any other file let me know so I can provide you with a private link on Dropbox where to put the files.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Matt! P17 is great.

Error occurred during /install upgrade process. This was the only error I saw. Previous upgrades no errors occurred.

Please provide the private link to share the log.

Hello,
I'd like to ask the guru about one thing.
Synacor released the next last patches for two zimbra versions:
Zimbra 8.8.15 “James Prescott Joule” Patch 25
and
Zimbra 9.0.0 “Kepler” Patch 18.
The latest version of Zimbra 9.0.0 from Zextras, downloaded on September 2nd, has packages like 9.0.0 ..... p14-1.r8 (not p18!).
Does this mean that Zextras' Zimbra 9.0.0 is incomplete and lacks the latest fixes like Synacor version 9.0.0?

Probably because not all components were (required to be) patched since the release...

Hello everyone,

The problem is solved completely!

Zextras recently released a new build of Zimbra 9.0 that includes the latest patches directly into the codebase. You will have a version of Zimbra 9.0 already updated with the newest patch right after installation.

In my latest article I explain how to upgrade:
https://community.zextras.com/how-we-solved-the-issue-of-updating-zimbra-9/
So to summarize,
  • Zimbra 9.0 new build by Zextras,
  • No source code modification,
  • No more patch concerns 🙂

Best of luck to everyone, and enjoy your Zimbra!

Hi Arman,
thanks for your article.
Everything is clear, but I have another question about the future update procedure.
After Synacor publishes the next Zimbra 9 fixes, will you maintain a repository (zimbra.repo) to get these fixes, or will you compile the entire codebase?
Regards,
Nik

Hi Nik,

No, we won't manage our repo for Zimbra FOSS by Zextras, and yes, Zextras will always recompile the codebase to provide you with an updated core archive.

Updating procedure is always the same, so you can easily upgrade using the archive installer provided by Zextras. The only thing users can upgrade without our tar.gz are third-parties that are not managed by Zextras and stored on Zimbra's official repositories.

Best regards,

Arman

Today I noticed a new Zextras file of Zimbra 9.0 FOSS.  The version 9.0.0_ZEXTRAS_20210811_UBUNTU18_64. Does anyone know which patch this is?

After a backup I performed an inplace upgrade. I saw 1 error.

"Updating global config and COS's with attributes introduced after 9.0.0_ZEXTRAS...failed."

Anyone??

I had exactly the same issue (Ubuntu 18.04):

Running mysql_upgrade...done.
Schema upgrade required from version 111 to 112.
Running removed link
Fri Sep 3 20:25:01 2021: Verified schema version 111.
Fri Sep 3 20:25:09 2021: Verified schema version 111.
Fri Sep 3 20:25:09 2021: Updating DB schema version from 111 to 112.
Stopping mysql...done.
Updating global config and COS's with attributes introduced after 9.0.0_ZEXTRAS...failed.
Stopping ldap...done.
Upgrade complete.

Checking ldap status....not running.
Starting ldap...done.
Setting defaults...done.

Not having any problems or sign that something did not work after upgrading though...

Just a thought: Why not docker it?

Hi Arman,
OK, thanks, your explanations are complete.
How can we know if a new recompiled Zimbra is available for download from the Zextras site?
